The Sounds of Leo Season

Leave it to a Leo, robed entirely in ivory Chanel, to shout her own lyrics at a presidential inauguration.

Like their fellow fire signs Aries, Leos are divas and performers. Ruled by the sun, they’re not ones to shy away from the spotlight, whether that takes the form of the aforementioned inaugural call to “get loud” or smashing a guitar on Saturday Night Live.

Regal and luxurious, Leo doesn’t know the meaning of austerity or minimalism. They want the best of the best of everything, aesthetically and otherwise. Career, relationships, aspirations, ambitions, really nice shit—Leo is forever in pursuit of all of the above.

Don’t mistake this love of the finer things for selfishness, though. If you’re in their pride, Leo lions are fiercely loyal. Their friends and family (biological or chosen) mean the world to them. Endlessly generous with their words, time, and money, no one will support you like a Leo friend. They are the zodiac’s biggest cheerleaders.

Yet with all of that optimism and opulence come a set of sometimes suffocatingly high standards, chiefly for themselves. Leos will bend over backwards to take care of others but work just as hard to ensure no one breaks down their own emotional walls. The emotions are very much there, though. Think of a brief afternoon storm on an otherwise bright and sunny summer day. Or just listen to the Kate Bush-Elliott Smith-Tori Amos run of this playlist.

All the world is Leo’s stage, though, and you’ll never see that side of most of them. They’re too busy captivating the room, hosting the party and charming the pants off all their guests.

Let’s get loud, indeed.

P.S. Yes, yes, I know we had a lot of Ramin Djawadi on the Cancer season playlist—but Debussy was a Leo and I like an orchestral opener, okay?
